Healthy Sugar Free Shaved Ice & Snow Cone Syrup A Must Read
My kids absolutely love shaved ice and snow cones.
But I know that the syrups used on them are filled with sugar which if consumed in excess can be really bad for them at their tender age.
So my wife and I did our research and we tried a few sugar-free syrups.

Why Concession Syrups
There are other sugar-free syrups available but for me, Concession Syrups are ideal why:
- they taste almost the same as the normal shaved ice syrups. You probably won’t be able to tell the difference.
- They come in larger bottles so they work out cheaper
- and they will last you a much longer time comparing to other syrups which are sold in small bottles
- Have a Variety of flavors.
What is Sugar-Free Syrups
Sugar-free Syrups as the name implies dont use sugar as sweeteners instead they rely on more healthy alternatives.
Though usually what happens is that your sugar-free syrups tend to taste different than if you used regular syrups though I have found an exception, which is the Concession Sugar-free syrups.
Concession Sugar-free Syrups are made using Sucralose as a sweetener instead of sugar, which is the same ingredient used to make Splenda.
Now Sucralose comes very close to tasting like sugar since it is made from sugar, basically its a refined healthier version of sugar. Citation.
Advantages of Using Sucralose
Sucralose has no calories basically what it does is that it just passes straight through you similar to how fiber isn’t digested.
Unlike sugar which is broken down and absorbed into our bloodstream.
2-No effect on You Blood Sugar
And because it just passes through you and is not broken down and absorbed it also has been shown to have no effect on your blood sugar.
This means it should help prevent diabetes and prevent sugar highs.
3-Less is Needed
Sucralose is sweeter than regular sugar meaning that less of it has to used to get the same degree of sweetness.
So if before you had to use 20 grams of sugar now you just use 1 gram of sucralose.
4-Similar to Sugar
Tastes very similar to sugar this because sucralose is made from sugar so the taste is roughly the same.
And if you are like me and accustomed to the taste of sugar, sucralose will give you the best of both taste and health.

They tend to have lower calorie intake and because of this, they are ideal if you are trying to keep off or get rid of a few extra pounds.
Normal Shaved ice or Snow cones using regular syrups can have a minimum of 90 calories which can add really fast especially if you like a lot of syrup

Sugar-free syrups are great if you are trying to get your kids to eat healthier and reduce their sugar content.

Almost all syrups sold on the market have chemicals either used as preservatives or as sweeteners and because of this, I would push for moderation.
Meaning that they should be consumed once in a while, how often is up to you.

Eating an excess amount of sugar has been shown to increase the risk of diabetes and heart disease.
This is because we humans evolved accustom to handle small amounts of sugar that are found in fruits.
So in our modern food containing tons of sugar, our body can efficiently process the excess sugar consumed thus causing these side effects.
3- Destroy Dental Health
Sugar promotes specific bacteria which produces acid that wears away at the calcium in our teeth.
4-Can Cause Cancer
Several studies have shown that consuming excess amounts of sugar can lead to breast and colon cancer.
