Does Nitro Brew Coffee Have More Caffeine?

Nitro Cold Brew Coffee will have more caffeine than regular coffee, though the amount of caffeine will vary immensely.

How Much Caffeine Does Nitro Coffee Has

One 8 ounce glass of nitro coffee will have around 150-210 mg of caffeine

This figure can vary a lot, sometimes going higher or lower, this is due to variables which I will explain in a bit.

Now for reference to how high this is, the same amount of normal coffee will have around 95-150 mg of caffeine.

Factors That Affect Caffeine Levels in Nitro Coffee

1-How long the Coffee was Left to Steep

To make cold brew nitro coffee, you first need to mix your water and coffee up and then leave it to steep.

Now the longer that you let your coffee and water steep the more caffeine it will have, so if you like your nitro really strong let it steep for a longer time, I usually let mine steep for 12-14 hours.

By letting your coffee steep for a longer time, allows more caffeine to dissolve into your nitro cold brew.

2- The Ratio of Water to Coffee

The ratio refers to the proportion of coffee to water used to brew your nitro coffee.

Let’s say you are making four cups of nitro coffee and you mix 4 cups of water to 1 cup of coffee, this means you would get a ratio of; 1 coffee to 4 water.

By using a higher ratio of coffee to water, increases the amount of caffeine in your nitro.

This is because by using more coffee you would get a higher concentration of caffeine.

Most Nitro coffee is brewed to a ratio of 1:4 or 1:8 whilst to give you a reference normal coffee is brewed at a ratio of 1:15 or 1:25.

3-Temperature

If you brew your cold brew coffee at room temperature it would have more caffeine.

Some people like to place their coffee in the fridge to steep which generally takes a lot longer and would have less caffeine.

This is because caffeine dissolves best at higher temperatures.

4- Dilution

Now after your cold brew has been brewed some people like to add water to dilute it.

A lot of coffee shops such as Starbucks and Donkin Donuts, I have found that their Nitro Coffee has been watered down thus reducing the caffeine content.

The less water that is added to your nitro brew the higher the concentration of caffeine it would have.

In most cans of nitro coffee such as Stumptown Cold Brew and Chameleon Cold-Brew you get a much higher concentration of caffeine. Citation.

How Much Caffeine is Safe to Drink

The recommended daily intake of caffeine for a healthy adult is around 400 mg or roughly 4 cups of coffee. Citation.

This amount can vary for different individuals due to body size and age.

Now if you do go over this limit you might experience some symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, and irritability so you should definitely know your limit.
